2022 IMCA TV Winter Nationals Appearance

The HBM racing team hit the road to kick off the 2022 racing season in Somerton, AZ at Cocopah Speedway!

After enjoying the winter break and celebrating the holidays with our family and friends, we were ready to get back to racing! The team loaded up our Shaw Chassis IMCA Sport Mod and headed down to Cocopah Speedway for a night of practice followed by a day of racing. Cocopah Speedway is always a challenging track, and this was our first time competing in our 2021 Shaw car.

Our first practice run did not go as planned. We had some difficulty getting the car to turn but after some shock and suspension adjustments, we were back in business. The second practice session was much better and we elected to use this setup the following day.

We started our heat race in the 4 position. The car was performing well, when we suffered a spin between turns 3 and 4. In an event this large, 1 spin eliminates a racer from their heat race and sends them directly to a B main.

The B main did not treat us much better. Marcos was caught up in a 4 car wreck entering the first turn of the race. Unfortunately the car suffered enough damage to eliminate us from further competition.

Cocopah Speedway remains a challenging venue for our team, but we will continue to learn from our experiences and give it our best shot every time we are on the track. The HBM team will be making the necessary repairs to compete at Central Arizona Speedway in Casa Grande, AZ on January 21st and 22nd!

Thank you to all of our supporters and sponsors who allow us to get out and compete! Phoenix Rising FC, DirtWorx Contracting
