AutoNation Crate by Klein Engines Part I
We have officially completed the first half of the AutoNation Crate by Klein Engines at Central Arizona Speedway. Here’s how the first weekend looked for us.
Night 1 took place on 01-21-2022 and was our first race of the year at our home track. Marcos started P2 in the 3rd Sport Mod heat race of the night. After jumping out to an early lead we were able to bring home our first heat race win of the season (see video below).
The heat race win earned the team an automatic transfer to the A main where we started in the 5 position. Our car began the race tight, making it difficult to control through the turns. In the end we were fortunate to avoid a series of crashes throughout the race and finish 6th out of 27 entries.
In night #2 Marcos started his heat race in the 7 position and worked his way up to a 5th place finish, 2 positions short of earning an A Main transfer spot. After making some adjustments to the car we began the 10 lap B main in the 4 position. The revised setup worked well in the race, and nearly allowed us to complete a last lap pass for the win. After earning a spot in the A main with a 2nd overall B Main finish, we managed to advance 4 positions from a 15th place start to an 11th place finish to the night.
Overall it was a successful start to the year at Central Arizona Speedway. We have some work to do on our car throughout the week to prepare for the second half of the event. We invite all of our fans to come out to the track and cheer us on or tune in to the live stream at imca.tv.
