AutoNation Crate by Klein Engines Part II

Our first racing event of 2022 has come to an end. Each night of competition presented its own unique set of challenges and track conditions. Here’s how we did!

The track handled very differently in night 3 compared to nights 1 & 2. We started our night in the 3rd position in our heat race. We were unable to advance our position in the heat, finishing the race in 3rd place and earning a spot in the main event of the night.

Marcos started the main event in the 10 position. Prior to starting the race, we chose to adjust our setup in an attempt to meet the track’s dry condition. We were unable to gain traction on the high side of the track but found some success down low. After 20 laps of intense racing, Marcos picked up another top 10 finish in the 9 position.

Night 4’s track conditions were much friendly to our driver and machine. We were fortunate to draw the pole position in our heat race and finished the race in 2nd place allowing us to advance to the main event once again.

Just before it was time to head out for the main event, the HBM car experienced some issues with the shifter linkage. Fortunately, Marcos was able to hop back out of the car, make the necessary repairs, and start his last A main of the event in the 3 position. Once again, we were unable to gain much traction and drive through the turns and fell outside of the top 10 finishing in 12th place.

HBM Racing is happy to report that we were able to show up and compete each day, qualified for all 4 main events, and racked up two top 10 main event finishes.

Thank you to our sponsors who helped us start off the year on a positive note: Phoenix Rising FC, Lone Butte Development L.L.C.
